Hilde D'haeyere is a photographer and film researcher. Currently, she is a post-doctoral researcher lecturing at the School of Arts - University College Ghent (BE), formerly known as the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (or KASK in Dutch). Her work focuses on photographic aspects of silent film, especially the links between special effects techniques, promotional photography, film color, and costuming in slapstick comedy.
She publishes academic articles and brings conference papers that not only rely heavily on visual material but also result from hands-on and embodied research methods that reactivate film history and archival sources.
